I’m sure you have heard the phrase, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Well like Rome great software also doesn’t happen overnight. Some articles that I have read suggest it takes 10 years to make great software.
The news headlines talk about a SOHO developer, basically some guy in a garage writing an app and selling it for millions.
But for the majority of us this just isn’t real.
You write your plugin, you test it and release it it. You might get some feedback you might not. If you use your own plugin (and I would recommend you do), you might find some bugs and think of a cool feature to add.
So you make the changes, you test them and release them. And the whole things begins again.
In my experience this is how great software is developed.
So if you have only written a line or two of code today, don’t despair. Keep plodding along. Always bear in mind that you are in good company because for most of us it’s a game of inches (or 2.5 centimetres approximately).
Do you find developing WordPress plugins a game of inches? Or have you written a killer app and sold it for millions. I would love to hear about your experiences so why not leave a comment?
